About Jim & Linnie

Jim Williams

Jim Williams was born and raised in Edenton, North Carolina, where many of the
stories that shape his books and reflections first began. Growing up on South
Oakum Street surrounded by friends, history, and the unique culture of the
Albemarle region gave him a deep appreciation for storytelling, community, and
the power of place.

Jim served as a firefighter with the Edenton Fire Department before later
moving to Rockwell, North Carolina, where he spent fifteen years working in
NASCAR. Today he serves as a Transportation Safety Assistant with Cabarrus
County Schools, working daily with exceptional and behavioral students —
something he considers both meaningful and rewarding.

Jim is an active member of Grace City Church in China Grove, North Carolina,
where he serves in the children’s ministry teaching 2–5 graders and participates
in the men’s ministry. His heart for ministry has also led him to serve in
homeless outreach, men’s ministry, youth ministry, and with a growing desire to
be involved in disability ministry.

Jim gave his life to Christ in October of 2008 and was baptized in September of
2009. In 2010 he attended a Men’s Quest with the
Fellowship of the Sword,
where he spent five and a half days seeking the Lord and experiencing a deeper
sense of freedom in Christ. The experience had such a lasting impact on his
life that he later returned to serve and help staff many Quest events.

Jim currently attends Liberty University and will graduate in May 2026 with
bachelor’s degrees in Biblical Studies & Theology and Next Generation Ministry.
He plans to continue his education by pursuing a master’s degree in the fall.

Jim is the author of The Thoughts of a Simple Man in a Complicated World
as well as the children’s historical adventure series Oakum Street Outlaws.
His writing reflects a passion for faith, history, community, and the lessons
found in everyday life.

Together Jim and his wife Linnie share a blended family of six grown children
and three grandchildren. Their lives are rooted in faith, family, and a desire
to encourage others through stories, ministry, and the grace found in everyday
life.

Linnie Williams

Jim’s greatest support and partner in life is his wife, Linnie. Together they
have built a home centered on faith, family, and service. Linnie plays a quiet
but vital role in the heart of Porch Light Reflections, offering encouragement,
wisdom, and steady support that helps bring many of these ideas and stories
to life.

Linnie is an active member of Grace City Church in China Grove, North Carolina,
where she faithfully serves alongside Jim. She works in the young children’s
ministry with ages 2–5 and also leads the women’s ministry, encouraging and
walking alongside other women in their faith journeys.

She works for Cabarrus County Schools as a Lead Bus Driver, a role that reflects
her servant’s heart and commitment to caring for others in her daily life.

Linnie gave her life to Christ in August of 2022 and was baptized in February
of 2023. Her walk with the Lord deepened through attending
Women’s Quest with the Fellowship of the Sword,
where she spent five and a half days seeking the Lord. During that time God
worked deeply in her life, and she returned home walking in a new sense of
freedom and faith.

Together Jim and Linnie share a blended family of six children. Their home is
filled with faith, laughter, lessons learned, and the daily grace that comes
from trusting God in every season.

Porch Light Reflections LLC was created as a way for Jim to independently
publish his books and share the stories, reflections, and history that have
shaped his life and faith.
